Lever-type binders from US Cargo Control made from forged steel and designed for securing loads in chain binding applications on flatbed trucks and rail cars, as well as for cargo holding in the marine industry. Our chain binders made with quality in mind for heavy duty transport securement, and have the size, break strength, & work load limit clearly marked on the handle for quick and easy identification.This binder is made for either 5/16" or 3/8" chain*, but must be used with 5/16" Grade 70 Transport Chain in order for your load binding embly to meet the grade 70 transport standards for cargo securement set by the DOT. Do not exceed a work load limit of 5,400 lbs.There two main grades of chain for tie-down applications, Grade 43 High Test Chain & Grade 70 Transport Chain. The 2 measurements marked on this binder indicate which size chain to use to with which grade. The 5/16" specifies that this binder can be used with 5/16" Grade 70 Transport Chain OR it can be used with 3/8" Grade 43 High Test Chain. If you use this binder with 3/8" Grade 70 Transport Chain, the binder will be weaker than the chain, and therefore your entire embly will only meet grade 43 High Test Chain standards.
